ASTM A403 WP316L copre lo standard per raccordi in acciaio inossidabile austenitico battuto per applicazioni tubazioni pressione. Il materiale di raccordi comprende forgiati, barre, lastre o senza saldatura o tubi saldati. Forgiatura o operazioni di formatura è eseguita da martellatura, pressatura, penetranti, estrusione, sconvolgendo, laminazione, piegatura, saldatura per fusione, lavorazione, o una combinazione di due o più di tali operazioni. Tutti gli accessori devono essere trattati termicamente.
Questa specifica copre diversi gradi di austenitici leghe di acciaio inossidabile. Designare il grado con un prefisso secondo la norma ASTM / ASME applicabili o standard MSS. Per ogni grado di acciaio WP, diversi tipi di raccordi vengono specificati per indicare se senza soluzione di continuità o la costruzione saldata viene utilizzato. La designazione di grado è utilizzato anche per indicare il metodo NDT NDT e la portata. Di seguito una sintesi generale delle gradi raccordo disponibili per tutti i gradi inossidabili WP. Non v'è nessuna classe per il rating CR.
ASTM A403 WP316L è una versione a basso carbonio di 316 e non è influenzato dalla sensibilizzazione (grano carburo contorno precipitazione). Pertanto, è ampiamente usato per le parti pesanti saldati (circa 6 mm e più). Di solito non c'è differenza di prezzo tra il visibile in acciaio inox 316 e 316L.
ASTM A403 WP316 è il grado di molibdeno di serie, secondo solo a 304 importanza in acciai inossidabili austenitici. Rispetto a 304, impartisce molibdeno migliore resistenza alla corrosione generale a 316, in particolare maggiore resistenza alla vaiolatura e corrosione interstiziale in ambienti clorurati.
La struttura austenitica dà anche questi gradi durezza eccellente, anche a basse temperature.
Rispetto al cromo-nichel acciai inossidabili austenitici, acciaio inossidabile 316L ha una maggiore scorrimento, stress rottura e resistenza alla trazione a temperature elevate.
